Staffing

·         Ms Anne Marie Sumadh (Dean and Biology Teacher) has retired after 38 years of service to our school.  We wish her all the best in her new ventures.  Be blessed Ms Sumadh.

·         Ms Sumadh will be replaced by Ms Anita La Caille who comes to us on transfer from Holy Name Convent, Port of Spain.

·         Sadly, we said goodbye to Mrs Ione McEwen-Williams who departed this life on August 23, 2016. Mrs McEwen-Williams served our school for 26 years.  May her soul rest in peace. Amen.

·         The following arrangements have been put in place for Dean duties:

o   Ms V. Grant and Ms M. Titus will perform duties in Forms 1 and 2,

o   Mrs M. Maharaj-Bhagan will assist Ms S. Hamid in Form 3,

o   Mrs L. Cassim-Archie and Ms L. Vincent will perform duties in Forms 4 and 5,

o   Ms K. John and Mrs M. Phagoo will perform duties in Form 6.

Finance

·         As mentioned in the last communication you are now required to pay an annual fee of $600 towards Security and other incidentals as outlined in the payment slip that was attached to your daughters' reports.  I wish to expressly thank those parents who have already made payments.  This has gone a long way to alleviate some of the financial burdens at the school.  I am making an appeal to those parents who have not yet paid to please do so.

Infrastructure

·         The upgrade/refurbishment of the school Auditorium continues. The existing air condition units have broken down again and we were advised by the technicians not to spend any more money to repair them as they have served their time and need to be replaced.  Three quotations obtained give a value of close to $250000 for replacement and installation.  We have since installed four 5-ton split units and those have been working well from all reports.

·         During the vacation period, the Forms 3, 4 and 6 bathrooms were tiled and repainted.  Mirrors will be installed soon.  I do hope the girls appreciate the effort and take care of the facilities.

·         The Computer Lab is in urgent need of refurbishment at this time and work in this area is expected to commence soon.

Extra-Curricular

·         I am pleased to inform that the SJC Dragon Boat Club is finally underway.  Training started on Saturday, July 09 and continues every Saturday morning from 8:00 – 9:00 at the waterfront (between Southern Elegance and Water Taxi), Notre Dame Scouts Headquarters, Lady Hailes Avenue.  Special thanks to the dedicated students and their parents who came out during the vacation.  Interested students (and parents) are welcome to join.  The other schools involved are Naparima Girls’ and Boys’, Presentation College, ASJA Boys, and St Benedict’s College.

Communication

·         This is a reminder that the SMS messaging system is up and running.  This is another means of communicating directly with you.  Please note that you will be charged for each text you receive
